Federal initiative supporting LGBTQ+ older adult research and programs. Relevant for veterans of the AIDS crisis, the Stonewall generation, and elders who lived underground identities most of their lives. Many LGBTQ+ senior centers offer programs, meals, and peer companionship — often free with suggested donation. Medicare and Medicaid cover gender-affirming care for elders in most states — including for people just starting transition late in life. Free service; donations support but never gate access.
