PEP must start within 72 hours of exposure — ER doctors can prescribe it; 24/7 hotlines exist for navigating off-hours. PrEP is now available as a long-acting injection (Apretude) every two months — useful if daily pills don't fit your life. Open at no cost to LGBTQ+ Maine residents and the people supporting them.
