PEP must start within 72 hours of exposure — ER doctors can prescribe it; 24/7 hotlines exist for navigating off-hours. Undetectable = Untransmittable (U=U): people with HIV on effective treatment cannot sexually transmit the virus. No cost — the program is grant-funded and confidentiality-protected.
